My Work, My Passion
Hi, my name is Deb Evans. When I was 14 years old my 2 eldest sisters were Flag Persons on the Alaska Highway in the Yukon Territory. Fifteen years later in 1989, I started working as a TCP for Selkirk Traffic Control here in the West Kootenays. In 1994 my business partner/ sister in law and I started Crews Control Flagging and became a limited company the following year. My partner got out of the business in 2004 when her mom became ill and she took on the fulltime job as her caregiver. In 2008, 19 years after being employed by my competitor, I purchased Selkirk Traffic Control, and have not looked back. It has been an exciting journey turning my company into what it is today. I could not have done it without the help of all my incredible employees. Many have been with me upwards of 10 years. Their dedication to responsibility and holding safety in the highest regard is what my goal was always about. I now have over 24 employees who work steady from the spring till the fall, with at least half of them carrying on with our highway maintenance contracts for our winter work.
